Hi there, welcome to The Velvet Cupcakery! I'm Amanda, baker and cupcake maker!

Most bakers I know grew up in a house with the smell of baked goods coming from their ovens... Not me! Although I can't credit my parents for my skills in the kitchen, I am thankful for our family vacation in July 2011 to Savanah, GA where I actually discovered my interest in southern sweets. During our stay I had my first encounter with the rich flavor of red velvet. I knew when I got home I was going to try to recreate that taste. Once I returned home from that trip, I started baking red velvet cupcakes for my family and friends as a hobby.

After years of perfecting my recipe, I've finally decided to share it with the world. I realized that red velvet did not have to be limited to just a cupcake; so I mastered the taste that way you can enjoy it in different forms.
